As someone who is fortunate to live both in Muskoka and the city of Toronto as well as a degree in animal science I am horrified at the prospect of this type of bill and I completely reject this proposal. This provincial government has proven time and again they do not have respect for what remaining beauty and species we have in Ontario, green belt scandal/ Ontario place.. just to make 2 massive misses. I see daily the destruction of some of our most beautiful natural land torn up for development by corporations. Loosening these laws for the benefit of developers especially foreign investors does nothing for but benefit them and not the residents of Ontario or Canada. You can never reclaim this land, its plants and its inhabitants. We have seen this destruction across the globe.. it is not necessary to change the current legislation to expedite projects. These laws were put in place with careful consideration and research of our remaining ecosystems, you cannot undo damage. Removing these protections only support the few, the wealthy, the developers, foreign investors and greedy politicians. The voice of nature, our indigenous and the less privileged is always ignored for a fast buck. It is not necessary. Strategic, careful and smart development is absolutely possible without harming what we have left and without changing existing laws and legislation. We are a country made of some very intelligent, thoughtful and committed citizens and are know for our beautiful land, if we do not preserve what’s left we will also lose our identity.. and for nothing.
