The proposition of even considering removing the environmental assessment for the York, one waste disposal site, just shy of a kilometre outside of the quiet town of Dresden is absurd. If the government were to choose to wave the environmental assessment and allow York one to implement its proposed disposal site, it opens the door to a whole host of environmental, and infrastructure problems for the town of Dresden and surrounding communities. The main road in Dresden is not equipped for the proposed amount of trucks planning on coming through. There are two schools on the main street of Dresden. One of my main concerns is for the safety of the children. With so many trucks coming through every day, the risk of an accident skyrockets.
I oppose this proposition.
