I oppose the hunting of cormorants. Hunting of any kind is cruel and immoral, but this is a particularly pointless cull. The proposal is not science-abased, but instead is political and could result in the decimation of the cormorant population. These native birds are ecologically important, and in fact populations are already modest. The slaughter would be impossible to monitor and the impact on the ecosystem would be devastating. Please do not permit this cruel and wasteful hunt.
