This is a fantastic idea! I live along Lake Erie and I have watched this birds population density grow exponentially in number. They are rapidly decreasing the biodiversity of this region. A season would definitely help to keep them in check. One can draw a parallel between this proposed idea and spring snow goose seasons. It won't decimate the population, but it is great tool help manage a population before some form of disease causes a massive die off.
