This proposal seems confusing. It states that it plans to "remove toxics reduction in 2019 and rely on robust and science-based Federal Chemical Management Plan." Sounds like an oxymoron. Removing and then adding chemicals, because the federal regulations are not as stringent in some of use of pesticides. Who comes up with these ideas? The P.C. provincial gov't is taking advantage of the federal gov't's outdated regulations, while trying to look as if the 2 levels are working together somehow. We know that the provincial protection of environment regulations of 2009 came about due to MAJOR concerns from the public and scientists regarding the use of chemicals especially Round up, lawn chemicals and 2-4-D among other products.
Lawn and even road side chemicals, are totally unnecessary, and are for ornamental use, basically. They are very detrimental to health of humans (especially children), and many other life forms. This is why so many people worked so long and hard to have them removed from our environment.
Personally, i was ever so glad when these chemicals were banned and/or restricted, because i am EXTREMELY allergic to them. I literally choke up and can't breathe around most of these types of chemicals. (I know they are still used on golf courses, simply for esthetic purposes, which has everything to do with vanity and show, and nothing to do with good sense.)
Also, Round up may to some extent reduce pests on the crops but we are ingesting these chemicals and they cannot possibly be good for us or for the soil and water..
Please do not repeal the use of these products. The more chemicals we use, the more illness will develop after the fact.
