Re: Bill 66
Re: Bill 66
As President of an non-profit charity which has since 1972 been protecting built heritage across the Kingston region, I know that I can unequivocally say that our 115 members would be opposed to any legislation which bypasses our Official Plan, the Planning Act, or the Provincial Policy Statement in order to allow jobs in this community.
The rules set out in provincial legislation and provincial policy, and then followed in local official plan documents are necessary to protect our built heritage and our precious cultural heritage landscapes, and to suggest that what is effectively a Minister's Zoning Order to over-ride such an important framework for land use planning is an utter disgrace.
Again, on behalf of the Frontenac Heritage Foundation which protects built heritage in the Kingston region, please do not advance Bill 66.
