This comment is provided with respect to the lands known municipally as 8-10 Craig Street, Brantford. The lands are shown on the attached map.

The proposed Provincially Significant Employment Zone for this area properly excludes the subject lands. We support this. Costco Canada has advised that it wishes to build a new membership warehouse in Brantford and that the subject lands are the only location in the City which it is interested in. Costco represents a significant employer for this City which has had its challenges attracting new employment. Brantford City Council recognized the obvious planning merits of this development and, last fall, adopted OPA 206. OPA 206 permits major retail on the subject lands. Accordingly the subject lands should not be included in the Provincially Significant Employment Zone. We thus support their current exclusion.
