Why is Ontario not recommending the highest standards of preparation for a nuclear emergency response? I’m assuming that it is to save money?? The risk is continuing to grow as our preparation stagnates. The reactors are aging. The world has witnessed two major accidents—the worst can happen. With climate change everything is becoming less predictable on planet Earth. The risk is huge. A major accident would impact the entire country as millions of people live in proximity to the nuclear plants. If being adequately prepared is making nuclear less attractive, then I think the best solution is to retire the nuclear plants. But if you insist on running them, then you owe us the best protection against a possible accident.
