I would like to express my support the cottagers in Rondeau Provincial Park. These families have come to view this community as part of their lives and I support their continuation in the community for the long term. The three-year lease extension as described in ERO Policy Proposal 019-0907 is a good beginning and will help move this process forward. I also believe that the lease extension should be an automatic process moving forward so that their lives are turned upside down during each extension period.

I firmly believe there also needs to be a permanent long term solution for the cottage owners. Cottages, like homes, require constant upgrades and renovations and this involves financial investment. Cottagers need to believe they have a long term relationships with their property so they can make the necessary investments in their cottage.

I support a long term solution – the sooner the better!
