Please consider this comment as highly supportive of the proposed changes to the Crown Forest Sustainability Act.
Logging operations in Northwestern Ontario are currently well managed under the existing legislation. There is no need to further regulate a well-developed planning system by adding conditions under the Endangered Species Act.
The CFSA already provides protection of forest values including species at risk and unmapped values such as streams.
Public input is already included in Forest Management Plan open houses so the public has ample opportunity to voice any concerns.
The CFSA also includes consideration of social and economic concerns within its framework which will help ensure the economic health of communities along with environmental wellness.
Please approve the proposed changes to the CFSA as soon as possible to ensure continuity of good forest management.
