We are extremely frustrated and disheartened with the amount of greed that comes from businesses extracting resources at the cost of human health and wild ecosystems. The land adjacent to where this quarry is proposed in Niagara Falls was zoned residential. If the city or any government agency knew gravel was near or under where we live and are now granting Walker industries to build a quarry must be held responsible for property devalued, structure damage to home due to blasting. human health concerns related to quarry dust etc and water pollution as well as poor quality of life caused by constant dust. We would have never built in this subdivision if we knew a quarry was ever planned. Find another area for this resource. Walker is buying land in Niagara like candy in a machine. Are we to be surrounded by garbage dumps and quarries. Seriously! The stench from garbage and the pollution from the quarry makes Niagara a smelly, dust ridden health hazard to people and its natural ecosystems. Please seriously reconsider. Your decision will impact the health of others. It seems if a fish or frogs life is in jeopardy over the quarry is more important fact them the risk to human health to stop this terrible decision to build a quarry kiddy corner to a subdivision. Is the government prepared to pay for the loss of value in our home because of this ridiculous idea to build a quarry next to subdivision? Is the government prepared to create toxic living conditions for tax payers. STOP what you are doing. STOP building subdivisions near high need resources and STOP allowing garbage dumps to be built next to where people live. It is awful that now we can be living in a future cess pool. Why don’t government officials live in our subdivision perhaps this won’t go through if that were the case. Would you want your home to be 300 meters from a quarry? . We should not have to pay taxes to live in these potential conditions Are we are to succumb to this insanity of a quarry. Maybe just pay us $900000 for each home in the subdivision so we can all move out of Niagara and to a region that respects its citizens livelihood, and ecosystems well being. Frustrated taxpayer in Fernwood Estates.
