The Location, volume and 24 hour operation of this proposed site is deeply concerning. Running an industrial operation that will see waste trucked into a residential area from all over the province is extremely irresponsible. With only two access roads both of which are lined with homes, schools, community centres and which may or may not even have sidewalks is dangerous and will completely and permanently degrade the quality of life for the residents of our community. Additionally, processing these waste at a facility that should never have been opened in this location in the first place is also unacceptable. This is a small corner of Scarborough where there is a small green space bordering an older industrial area. There is extremely limited waterfront access in the Scarborough area as well as limited green space for the local bird and wildlife species that make their habitat along the waterfront. With most space occupied by homes and business there is a unique opportunity to protect and hopefully begin to return this space back to the wilderness. Winding down these industrial operations which at one point were far away from residential homes and when society held a lesser value for the environment should be the priority. I would hope we have matured as a community and see that trucking in massive volumes of ware and at a constant 24 hour rate through a residential community is the opposite of what we should be doing. Please stop this expansion completely and protect our environment and the quality of life of the people and wildlife and jay call this area home.
