The proposed Waste Disposal Site - Processing and Transfer Facility for 633 Coronation Drive is unacceptable.
The area already has a sewage treatment plant which already produces toxic fumes from incineration of sewage sludge. The neighborhood currently consists of light industrial and residential uses. There are days during the summer when you cannot even open your windows because of the existing toxic fumes that emanate from the existing sewage treatment plant. A lot of the times one cannot sit outside because of the smell. The proposed Processing Facility will only add to the existing air pollution problem. Just because the air is already polluted in this area does not mean one can pollute it even more. In addition to the above, the 100% increase in truck traffic is unacceptable.
Just because the 'neighbourhood' is considered a 'low income' residential area, it does not justify the construction and operation of an additional waste procession station. Perhaps the Plant should be built by the Cement Factory by Cobourg??
I doubt that additional information pertaining to this proposed development will help. The City of Toronto is again not thinking about the people who reside in the area and do not care about the health of their citizens.
