Re: 019-1446: I strongly object to the proposed waste processing & transfer plant at 633 Coronation Drive. Having a facility of this magnitude located within metres of large residential areas, schools, parks and recreational facilities will have a significant negative impact on our daily lives. At present my house experiences substantial vibration around the clock due to the current heavy truck traffic on Beechgrove. The increased amount of truck traffic will only make matters worse. I am extremely concerned that due to the high number of trucks associated with this proposal, it will pose as a significant safety issue for pedestrians, particularly children who cross Beechgrove to get to and from the local schools. The idling trucks will sacrifice air quality, increase noise and traffic congestion along Coronation and Beechgrove.
The fact that this plant will emit at least six toxic & greenhouse gases causing serious, and potential life-threatening respiratory issues in addition to offensive odours is totally unacceptable. It will certainly create health, quality of living & significant environmental concerns for the area. The proposed open-air storage facility will also increase the rodents, insects & scavenging birds to the area as well. The fact that the proposed facility will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year offers absolutely no respite from the odour, traffic, noise & air pollution. We have been burdened for years with the odours from the sewage treatment plant and this will only exacerbate the situation immensely. A facility of this nature has no place in this area. I strongly urge you to reject this application.
