This Bill does a huge disservice to the people of Ontario. It ignores the effects of Climate Change that are already occurring and the costs associated with the increase in health costs (due to extreme heat) and insurance claims (due to extreme weather events. Climate change is hear and we need to start to mitigate the effects.

Cap and Trade program, although it was not perfect, was helping. My children's school has no air conditioning, the fund from Green Energy was going to put A/C in the school so students are not expected to learn when it is 40C in the classroom. ( have you ever tried to write and exam like the EQOA when it is so hot in the room).

Our current tax structure, penalizes people for making money, and allows them to pollute at abandon. Shouldn't this be changed? Lets reward efficiencies, so if you are efficient and pollute very little, you are taxed less. This increased tax revenue can help offset lower personal income taxes.

The other option is a Fee and Dividend program- charge a fee, then give the money back to Ontarians in a rebate form. This will help offset climate change and put more money in people's hands.

We need government to intervene to reduce GHG, look what happened to CFCs when the government acted in the 80s, the Ozone hole is reforming and is no longer being threatened. Bill 4 talks about putting a plan in place. A plan needs to be in place before you repeal the old one. Repealing the old plan will cost the government money, and signals to businesses there is no sense investing in Clean Tech. Many high paying jobs are available in the clean tech economy .

Bill 4, is faulty, as it repeals with no replacement, doesn't look to the future, shuts Ontario out of the clean tech economy, does a disservice to our kids.
