Sprawl is unsustainable. The greenbelt is a common resource for all. Our drinking water and natural environment are not to be handed as political rewards. No trading of lands, no reduction in the greenbelt and no expansion of municipal boundaries.
This goes along with making conservation authorities ineffective. Development at any cost is not what this area needs. We need decisions based on modern realities that put the environment first, not 1950's car/highway sprawl based development.
Housing with no infrastructure is expensive. Housing in these areas is going to be typical subdivision development that is not sustainable nor affordable for most people now. Million dollar Housing is not for people who are not wealthy or even middle class. These decisions were not put forward in the last election, rather it was said the greenbelt would be protected.
Intensification and different housing types, rental properties, rent geared to income, subsized housing, townhouses, semis and triplexes, quads are needed not this preposal. Sprawl is expensive for everyone monetarily, environmentally and socially.
