Granting more housing development in protected greenbelt is what developers want but not what people need. This a very bad long term idea. The greenbelt has long been established for conservation of many environmental concerns like protecting headwaters and ecosystems that are fundamental to our healthy living. Developing these lands is precedent setting and only will benefit developers. We are not facing and dealing with sources of issues causing housing affordability crises when the solution points to paving over protected lands at any cost. Please do not allow this. There are other ways to look at housing crises before losing ecosystems forever. Too many condos in city are owned and empty, too many people own multiple homes on leveraging one another’s equity, too many companies are beginning to eye home ownership and rental income as their business model to allow for us to pave over protected lands in the name of a supply crises. The housing issues will only continue as we fail to acknowledge the real issues causing the housing affordability crises.
