As an Ontario citizen and voter, I support continuing with the Cap and Trade program. Emissions from heating buildings and emissions from vehicles must be reduced in order to have a world that does not endanger the health of future generations. Tax on carbon emissions inspires businesses and individuals to reduce their carbon emissions. We must also look for additional ways to turn climate change around.
Canadians produce 20 tons of greenhouse gases, more than twice as much as Norway, Europe, China and India. I want our world to be a healthy place for my grandchildren and yours to live, and I do not want short sighted government policies to destroy our environment.
The Ontario government can continue to dramatically reduce greenhouse gases within the next 4 years, and lead other world governments in creating “grand economic transformation [that] could bring a $26 trillion economic windfall, create 65 million new jobs, and avoid 700,000 early deaths linked to air pollution.”
Long term thinking is a mark of true leadership, and reducing carbon emissions is a major part of looking to the future.
