How do I say this nicely?
The forces of nature are beyond your control: you think by doing nothing about our pollution, which includes CO2, you are 'freeing' people from the 'burden' of extra costs that are not needed. What you are actually doing is condemning them to a future that will be full of pain and suffering - most [but all] of which could be avoided.
A good example of this was reported on the Weather Network today: the death of marine life in the Gulf of St.Lawrence because oxygen levels are plummeting - mostly because warm Gulf stream water with little oxygen is entering the gulf instead of cold and oxygen rich Labrador stream current water?
Why is the happening? Is it natural?
First, oxygen is lowered by our pollution of oceans with run off from farms and industries but the big impact is climate change, which is heating the gulf stream waters so much that they are evaporating so much that they are becoming as dense as the colder labrador current waters and thus enter the 400m deep trench into the Gulf which usually feeds oxygen to this almost land locked area.
Are we acting/
Of course not.
Politics does not allow it. However, within 5 years, yes a short 5 years, much of the ocean life in the gulf will be dead.
Will we act then.
Probably.
But it will be too late.
Are you going to do the same?
Are you going to wait until the damage is so bad that it is undeniable?
Probably.
That certainly does not make you leaders - it makes you reactive followers with no real desire to do what is in the best interest of the common good - all that you are acting like is somebody who wants power now, and let the future take care of itself.
So much for leadership.
Anyway, when the climate damages the lives of your children and grandchildren I imagine that you lose some sleep, or if not, you will probably say: "but we didn't know it would get this bad!".
But you could have known, if you had tried, if you had removed the ideological blinders you have on that have made you unable to see reality.
Reality is harsh.
Nature is harsher still.
In your future you will live with regrets, the regret of knowing that you could have acted to protect the people of Ontario - but you didn't.
So much pain, so much sadness is coming our way, and you didn't even try to stop it.
