I am 100% AGAINST opening up the greenbelt for development.

My children's future is already at stake with the existential climate crisis.

There are other ways to address the impending housing needs that need to be raised and used.

The issue may require flexibility, creativity, courage, honesty and hopefully transparency, because both affordable housing and the climate crisis are affecting our young people and our young families, but opening the Greenbelt of the GTA is NOT the answer.

The reasons why we protected it to begin with are still with us and our conditions of life will be exacerbated in the future. The evidence is all around us. We just need to open our eyes and minds to it.

Let's not be lazy and take the most expeditious way forward. Let's be thoughtful and provocatively creative.

Protect the Greenbelt and forge new possibilities. The old twentieth century ways of linear and simple business thinking are no longer sufficient to address the needs of the 21st century. We can do better.

I would love for my government to do better.
