MARKHAM STOUFFVILLE GREENBELT LANDS.
The protected white lands and greenbelt in Markham/ Stouffville Hwy 48 area were dewatered by a big trunk project in Markham yrs back. There was a class action lawsuit of multiple houses( and farms(40 plus residents) along Hwy 48 across 19th ave to Mc Cowan. Markham, Dickson Hill and Hwy 48 West Side Stouffville all had no water anymore . The area was water rich before the lands were dewatered to bring BIG pipe to Stouffville. The Region of York provided new wells for all the properties effected ,on Hwy 48, across 19th Ave etc. Water was completely gone 200-400ft down in big pockets and other spots were fine . The specialist hired said would take 40 plus yrs to restore water back. The Area now had possible big sink holes dangers. The Region of York was fully involved and has a full list of all properties dewatered 200-300 ft down in certain areas. I heard some properties were awarded damages by York Region. The lawsuit was kept quiet and out of papers.
