This is the first time I have submitted a comment to the Government of Ontario. I hope that speaks to the extent to which I disagree with Bill 4. I believe there should be a price for polluting the common invaluable resource we all share - the environment. I do believe this encourages businesses to minimize their pollution in order to maximize their profits. Under the cap and trade program Ontarians benefit from the revenues generated. Perhaps this money can be spent differently, but is a valuable source of income to be used for the benefit of all Ontarians. How will that revenue be replaced with Bill 4? I think we currently have a good path laid out for Ontario to address climate change, meet our emission targets set out by the Paris Climate Agreement and support growth, development and jobs in the clean energy sector. To scrap what we have and start over, seems to me to be an unnecessary use of time and money by the Ontario Government. Why not build on what we have? I am very disheartened by this decision. I would like to voice my opinion and ask that the Government of Ontario scrap Bill 4.
