I am strongly opposed to the suggested changes to the Greenbelt! Everyone I have talked to in Ontario is also extremely shocked by this plan. The Greenbelt is essential for protecting a plethora of species and habitats.

It also does not make sense to be building so many new homes - this will not stop the housing crisis. It also will add to the congestion associated with commuters. We need more high density housing, not sprawling neighbourhood in protected areas.

It also seems that this plan does not consider climate change in the least. How will a new neighbourhood like this support reducing emissions, or protecting biodiversity? We will suffer negative long term impacts.

The solution we need from this government is better public transportation, and affordable higher density housing. It is shocking that they actually think this is a strong proposal. We don’t need more roads and we don’t need more urban sprawl.

Furthermore, it seems concerning that this is an urgent plan for the government. How about we support the public healthcare system that is about to collapse first? And how do you think people will afford these new houses when you can’t even pay education workers a fair wage?

It is appalling that this green belt plan is being considered at all.
