This is a short sighted idea which will negatively impact future generations. For my grandchildren and yours it is imperative we save and expand the Greenbelt.

The Greenbelt is essential for native species to grow and thrive. The Greenbelt helps mitigate air pollution and reduces the effects of climate change. We need farmland and clean drinking water o feed future generations not mansions.

The Green belt has a positive economic impact. It delivers $9.1 billion dollars with 160,000 full time jobs depending on it in Ontario. I understand the Greenbelt delivers $3.2 billion in ecosystem services per annum! This includes recreational activities valued at $2.1 billion/year, $52. million yearly in carbon sequestration as well as a protecting private property flood protection at $224 million yearly.

Yes we need housing, but not mansions with 2 plus car garages and a super highway to get to work. We need housing where people can use public transit and which is close to grocery stores where cars are not required. Our home ( Earth) is burning. A shortsighted decision to destroy the Greenbelt just adds fuel to the fire.
