I think it is very important that Ontario have a very robust policy for protecting and preserving the environment. If the PC government believes cap and trade is not the way to accomplish this, then please show us your plan to accomplish this BEFORE you blow up the present policies. Cap and trade seemed to be the best system we have seen, given that it puts the cost of emissions on the polluters, and allows the government a source of revenue with which to pay for - or assist citizens to pay for (money in the pockets of ORDINARY citizens, not just the wealthy) their own contributions to ameliorating climate change. Other countries have managed to put good policies in place without decimating their economies, why can't Ontario be a leader in this as well? It is time that governments started thinking further ahead than just the next election, and concentrate on improving our quality of life and health with long term solutions for the betterment of everyone, not just the big corporations such as fossil fuel companies. I would like to see the government spend the millions you have set aside to fight the "carbon tax" and spend it on fighting climate change instead.
