I fully support the Region of Waterloo's development plan setting density targets in certain areas, limiting urban sprawl by observing the countryside line and preserving our vital farmland and natural areas and wetlands. Our region draws a significant amount of our drinking water from underground aquifers which must be protected for our children and grandchildren. I also think our Grand River Conservation Authority is best qualified to manage, preserve and even expand the protected areas in the Grand River watershed. We need many more hectares declared off limits to development, not fewer.
Most importantly, I strongly believe that development decisions must be made here in Waterloo Region and not dictated by some politician or bureaucrat in Toronto who has no stake in our community.
