The region of Waterloo has done an enormous amount of work over the last 10 to 20 years to come up with regards to building up the cities in a way that provides access to Transit and also create some Environmental Protections for the significant farming communities in the area. The regions Amendment will create much more housing than the provinces plan, and in addition it will create this housing in a way that is responsible towards the environment and the wishes of the people in the region itself. The public has even been incredibly engaged thanks to several advocacy groups in the area. The region has managed to find a plan that balances the needs of farmers with the reality of urban growth. I highly support the regions plan as well as this request for an amendment in particular and I hope that the province will see the reality that the regions plan has their ear to the ground on the citizens wishes and respect the will of the people in this area.
