This act is an absolutely heinous embodiment of all that is wrong with the current government. It represents a total abdication of our responsibility to act to rein in destructive climate change to win the appeal of those who would choose to deny reality until they themselves need massive government intervention to support their own recovery. History will look unkindly upon everyone involved in the creation of this travesty, as voters hopefully will at the next available opportunity to expunge this blight of pseudo-populist zealots from our government. I hope the authors of this bill understand that through their willful disregard for science and their trampling of the little progress we have made, they have condemned their children to suffering through increasing volatility and severity of weather incidents, new diseases borne by insects who will be able to survive further North, and the collapse of many of our industries due to drought, parasites, invasive species, and more. While I doubt they have the self-awareness to feel shame for their cowardice and mindless destruction, I have no doubt their progeny will attempt to erase them from their past so as to avoid shame by association.
