To whom it may concern,
I am deeply concerned about the direction the province of Ontario is aiming with regards to the cancellation of the Cap and Trade involvement. I believe this is a blatant disregard of what the people in Ontario want. The reason I am stating this is. that this government has only support from 40% of the citizens of Ontario. To state that this is what the people of Ontario want is false. The statement should be: 40 % of the people of Ontario who hold 100% of the power have decided that it does not fit their business model. Deeply flawed system....
There is a rather large amount of money, collected through cap and trade (Billions, as I understand), sitting in an account that had been earmarked for renewable energy projects and home improvements. Instead of embracing the approach against climate change as most of the world is doing, this government has pledged to spend a lot of tax payers money to fight the federal government.
On a planet where there is currently a multi trillion renewable energy economy thriving, 40% of Ontario citizens have decided to make a 180 degree turn and take our fledgling renewable energy industry back into the dirty energy ages of the 1950 era.
The idea of refurbishing of nuclear power plants is highly disturbing. We can negotiate a deal with Quebec to supply all the power we need for the coming ten years and then go back to nuclear power? That business model does not make any sense at all. The money for the refurbishment would be so much wiser spent to decrease our dependence on such dangerous technologies trough investment in renewable energy.
And remember the election promise, "NOBODY will loose their job under a PC government."
My company was the first victim and many renewable energy companies have packed up here in Ontario or are struggling to survive.
