Maybe cap and trade isn't the best way to restrain carbon emissions, but we have to have something in place that is effective and fair.

If we don't put t a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions then all of us will wind up paying for the disaster that will surely follow, with our health AND our dollars. Meanwhile, Ontario is still giving subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies. That money should be redirected to clean energy solutions.

We have obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement which we will not achieve unless we put legally binding targets in place. The money collected from a cap and trade or carbon tax could be used to help companies and individuals restructure their energy sources and reduce reliance on carbon producing fuels.

Until such time as this government has such a strategy, it should leave cap and trade in place.
