Everyone has heard about the devastating effects of climate change but few of us have experienced them YET which is perhaps why some people think getting rid of cap and trade policy and lowering the cost of gas is a good thing. If we wait until people voluntarily change to reduce greenhouse gases, it will be too late.
Scientists have been warning us about climate change for 70 years. Some work to reduce greenhouse gases has already been successfully done around the world including the previous Ontario government with their cap and trade policy. In 2016, Ontario had the lowest greenhouse gas emissions since reporting started in 1990.
It is important to listen to the people of Ontario but it is VITAL to listen to the experts-The Environmental Commissioner of Ontario and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change( IPCC).. These reports indicate the next few years are vital in determining our future. Fast and drastic ACTION is required to reduce our emissions and move away from fossil fuels. Please set legally binding drastic targets, make polluters pay and share progress with the public.
The people of Ontario and the people of the World need strong leadership and strong climate change policy . BILL 4 is NOT it. Do the right thing and do it FOR THE PEOPLE.
