My only comment and critique of the MTO is regarding the illegal trailers that are being placed along major highways in Ontario. Obtaining a permit for a billboard can be a long process, but a process my company and i respect, and follow to the letter.

Hyw 11 between Barrie and North Bay should be one of the most scenic in Canada as it runs through the Canadian Shield. Unfortunately it is one of the ugliest, a blot on the landscape.

Our family frequently travels Ontario highways. We are concerned about the dramatic increase in the number of highway billboard signs as defined in the Corridor signing policy. These signs are not only distracting, they detract from the natural beauty of our countryside.

I believe that the distances set on the 401 corridor in Essex County make it hard to do business. Massive structures need to be erected. The printing of the signs alone due to their size can cost $10,000 - $12,000. We are a local billboard company and most of our customers are local businesses.

Recently I had business in Huntsville and was disturbed by the number of unnecessary billboards that clutter the side of the highway, simple visual pollution.

I am totally opposed to any sort of billboards, advertisements along our major highways.
Apart from the visual effect they constitute distraction to drivers hence jeopardize the safety on the roads.

Approved signs (i.e billboards and those on bush country highways) should be restricted to traveler information (local business, provisions, hotels, tourist stops, driver awareness, hunter awareness etc) and not include consumer goods (books, -frozen beneath- products, religion, etc).
