Please implement a nuclear emergency plan for the province of Ontario. In the event that a nuclear disaster happens, we need to be prepared to evacuate and to protect our citizens and our fresh water supply, among other things.

In England, in the 1960s, we marched, 250,000 of us, to stop the testing of nuclear weapons in the atmosphere. 2,000 children developed blood cancers every year as a direct result of the increased radiation reaching England.

We do not need a Fukushima here. If this reactor is built, it is a matter of when, not whether, a nuclear accident occurs, with all the attendant destruction that a nuclear accident brings about.

Common sense dictates that any emergency plan is only effective if it includes plans for a worst-case scenario. Any lesser response to a potential emergency is doomed to fail or fall short.
