Proposal details
Description of policy
Sandbanks Provincial Park is located approximately 15 km southwest of Picton in Prince Edward County, in southeastern Ontario.
An amendment to the boundary of Sandbanks Provincial Park is being proposed. This minor amendment to the Crown land use direction will be posted on the Crown Land Use Policy Atlas.
The following projects will be facilitated by this land use amendment: addition of 10.14 ha of acquired land to the park, removal of the Glendon Green Boat Launch parcel from the park (0.059 ha) and removal of a small portion of the park (approx. 3 ha) along County Road 12 in order to widen the road allowance to a standard width which will allow the County of Prince Edward to make required engineering upgrades.
Once deregulated, the Glendon Green Boat Launch and the land along County Road 12 will be transferred to the County of Prince Edward. Due to the length of time required to deregulate and transfer these lands, MNRF will issue a land use permit to the County of Prince Edward to allow the County Road 12 engineering upgrades to proceed in a timely fashion.
If the proposed land use amendment is approved, a subsequent regulation change will be made to Ontario Regulation 316/07 under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006 to amend the boundary of Sandbanks Provincial Park. No additional opportunity for public comment on the regulation will be provided.
Purpose of policy
To seek public comment on a land use amendment in order to amend the boundary of Sandbanks Provincial Park.
