It distresses me that our newly elected leaders are not taking climate change more seriously in their decision making. I feel we might not be able to prevent it any more, but there are definitely steps we can take to mitigate the impacts. Read more

I find the approach of cancelling the cap and trade program, without analyzing and disclosing costs, to be troubling. I would much prefer to see some discussion and disclosure of costs and benefits that transitioning from cap and trade to federal carbon tax. Read more

At this time, especially as we have just had a UN report citing the urgency of the need to address climate change it is irresponsible for the government of Doug Ford to cancel the existing carbon tax measures that were put in place by the previous government. Read more

The Ontario government needs to understand the imminent threat that climate change poses to us and future generations. I feel that the government is not taking this issue seriously, and has a flippant, disrespectful attitude toward people that care about the environment. Read more

I want Ontario to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint. I want legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement. Read more

According to the IPCC immediate action on reducing carbon emissions is necessary. The cancellation of cap and trade in Ontario leaves the province without an immediate plan. There was and still is substantial revenue to support initiatives to get Ontario less dependent on fossil fuels. Read more

The proposal to cancel the Cap and Trade program does not make any sense whatsoever. The reason why the current cap and trade legislation is in place is to provide a means to address climate change by providing incentives to industry to reduce emissions. Read more

I am completely opposed to the cancellation of the cap and trade program, and the manner in which it was decided. Carbon pricing is essential to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, to meet our commitments under the Paris climate accord, and to reduce our contribution to climate change. Read more

I believe the present Cap and Trade program was benefiting companies, adding to the work force, improving our schools and helping homeowners improve their homes by improving windows, doors, new energy efficient furnaces. It also allowed consumers to look at purchasing electric vehicles. Read more

The devestating effects of climate change that we are already starting to see, and will continue to see in the future should be the most important subject we address as of right now. We need to move forward with positive and effective changes. If we do not push for this... Read more

The repeal of the original act is a short-sighted action designed only to satisfy PC party supporters. The Cap and Trade program is exactly the system that is needed to reduce the use of fossil fuels in Ontario. The system is a success in other jurisdictions and would work in Ontario. Read more
