I think that putting a price on pollution, making polluters pay and returning the revenues to Ontarians to help with reducing our carbon footprint was a good strategy for addressing carbon emissions at the provincial level. I regret that the new government is dismantling this strategy.

In the face of the recent announcement by the U.N. that the global community needs to act immediately to reverse the negative effects of climate change, it makes no sense for the province of Ontario to scrap emission targets and reject the cap-and-trade system.

This is a terrible idea. With the overwhelming evidence that NOW is time to act, delaying a program designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions which are linked directly to global warm is cowardly.

This is going to cost a lot of money for taxpayers! And better than what the federal government will enact, better to spend the money it made in Ontario!
The Ontario government risks losing significant credibility if it continues to oppose carbon pricing in all forms. Carbon pricing is cheaper than any other policy option and is the best tool we have to fight climate change.
