I would like to stress the worry this decision gives me. It seems to fly in the face of decades of research and consultation. What consultation has the Ford government done to come to this destructive action?

Focus on energy efficiency in homes and buildings.

Even major corporations are against scrapping the cap and trade program. This is absurd and my son's generation will be paying dearly for our failure to drastically reduce carbon emissions. Thanks for putting petty politics above human and environmental well-being. A pathetic day in Ontario.
Please do not let the Ontario government allow corporations who put pollution to the environment continue their current practices. In the future my children and grandchildren will not be able to eat, drink or breathe the money that those corporations will save.

I am against Bill 4, the Cap and Trade Cancellation Act 2018. The cap and trade policy created essential funding that was used to help citizens of Ontario make their homes energy efficient. This helped in 2 ways.

Bill 4 fails to match the urgency of the climate crisis and represents a major step backward in the fight against climate change.
It is unfair and unreasonable to eliminate the province’s only climate plan without being transparent with the public about the plan to replace it.

I sent an email to the Premier shortly after he was elected, urging him not to abandon the existing cap-and-trade program without a reasonable alternative. The response I received was unsatisfactory, in fact, his office proposed no environmental protection plan whatsoever.
