I am appalled and, once again, embarrassed to be Canadian. I can't believe the year is 2020 and we are still allowing for the slaughter of our black bears. Our purpose should be to protect the wildlife we have and nurture their continued existence and, instead, we slaughter them in spring.

Bear hunt in the spring? The spring time and also year round should be a time to educate the community about leaving no attractants out for the bears to eat. It appears to be a human problem rather than a bear problem. Economic benefit?

This hunt orphans bear cubs and dooms them to a slow, painful death. Everyone knows what it’s like to wake up bleary and hungry. Add to that, hungry babies needing your care. Would ou want to be dodging bullets at this vulnerable time?!
