Proposed changes to the black bear hunting regulations are a grave error in judgement. The people in charge of making these changes obviously know nothing about black bears and a spring bear hunt will leave numerous bear cubs abandoned and left to starve to death.

Implement the regular spring bear hunt in all wildlife management units where there is a fall hunt.
If there is a decline of bear numbers on the Bruce Peninsula then reduce the amount of bear hunts.

Totally opposed to this. Hunters cannot easily identify male from female bears and the females are with their cubs at this time. There is not valid reason for this hunt. Environmentalists are against it and I support the science in this area.
Kindly do NOT make the spring bear hunt permanent! I live in an area where we have bears, and during the summers after a spring bear hunt, bears are more agitated and more likely to attack during an encounter.

I fully support the spring bear hunt. The bear population in Ontario is healthy enough to support a managed hunt, and the spring hunt is vital to the economy in Northern Ontario. Many tourist operators would be forced to close their doors if the spring hunt is cancelled.

Please reconsider the proposal for the spring bear hunt. It is beyond cruel to leave orphan cubs to starve to death. And don't tell me females with cubs won't be killed because they do leave their cubs alone at times and can be mistaken for males.
