If it is the intention of the Government to open the Greenbelt for development to improve housing affordability, the number of single family houses should be limited and multi-unit housing should be prioritized. A significant number of affordable units must also be made available.
I am strongly opposed to removing protected greenbelt land in order for urban sprawl. Why take good, fertile land and destroy it? With the future of worldwide food shortages growing, all fertile land and waterways need to be protected more than ever.

The crisis is not housing, it is affordability. If we continue paving over our farmland and green spaces it will become a food and health crisis. Our government at this needs to be more creative in its solutions, not keep expanding and polluting until we choke ourselves.
I understand that our population with grow and we need to provide housing but why isn't more being done to stop home developers from racking up prices and making basic housing unaffordable for Ontarians?

Greenbelt lands were chosen for their environmental sensitivity. Simply swapping land for another does not fix what will be destroyed.
Here’s a thought: why not develop on the proposed replacement lands?

this proposal of interrupting, interfering and ruining sacred lands (that isn’t ours to claim to begin with as colonizers) of the beautiful greenbelt to build housing is deeply saddening and disappointing to hear.

I am strongly against any modifications to the Greenbelt boundaries. It defeats the entire purpose if the Greenbelt can be pushed further and further out.

Leave the green belt! It is vitally important to our province and our planet. Keep your campaign promise and protect this area. Once it’s gone, we can’t get it back.
The greenbelt must be protected. There is already so much land available for development in this province. The only justification for paving the greenbelt is to line the pockets of developers who supported Ford's campaign. Listen to the people of Ontario and do protect our greenbelt
I am very concerned about this proposal to remove land from the Greenbelt. There is no evidence that the land "swap" will result in a "net benefit" and the lands proposed to be added are already protected from development in other ways.

I can’t imagine anyone wants to see any part of the Greenbelt reallocated to housing. We don’t need more housing at the cost of the very little green space we have. Either make the Greenbelt bigger or leave it the same, but it should be protected and not torn apart for housing.

This is just contributing to more car-centric urban sprawl at a cost to the environment. Ontario needs a plan to develop more livable spaces, not suburbs.

Development on greenbelt space needs significantly more scrutiny and transparency than the government has offered. The destroying of this space has significant environmental impacts. The benefit of development on this land does not outweigh these environmental impacts.
This is a horrible idea! Leave the greenbelt alone. The existing greenbelt areas were chosen after extensive research and were selected due to their sensitivity and ecological importance. Many of these lands are on watersheds and preserve ecological habitats for wildlife.

I do not support this initiative. The province needs affordable housing in centrally located areas.
Is there transparency made available about Doug Ford's connection to these landholder owners and their patronage to his campaign?
We need to preserve agriculture and protected areas.
