The Greenbelt was meant to be protected and I am deeply upset that Doug Ford is going against his promise to not touch it. This is poor public policy. People of all political persuasions are united in the protection of the Greenbelt. Listen to the people!
I cannot express how strongly I oppose Bill 23 and the proposed amendments to open our green belt land to development. We are facing a climate crisis, we need more land protection not less.

I disagree with the moving away from protecting the Greenbelt.
I would like an inquiry into the timing of purchases of Greenbelt land shortly prior to the proposed change.
As if eliminating the Far North Act wasn't enough, now we are profiting the few and destroying important green space that was once protected. (Coincidence that much of the space being designated was recently purchased by major donators to the party in power?)

Please keep our green belt as it is. Green space is limited in this country especially in urban areas. With changing climate we need all of the trees, plants and animals to keep the balance. I understand that there is a growing population but find space somewhere else. Build up not out.
Do not touch the last bit of healthy Greenland that surrounds us!!! Focus on the abandoned lots and old factories near the cities. This will not end the housing crisis. Affordable rentals for families around $1000 will be the answer! Not building more new houses with expensive mortgages.

I wish my opinion actually mattered, but I know the government is simply going to do what it wants regardless of feedback, but opening up the Greenbelt to development is the DUMBEST thing any government could do.

The proposed plan to destroy portions of the Greenbelt is diametrically opposed to the premier's promise to the people of Ontario not to do so.

Dear Greenbelt Consultation Team,
Despite repeated promises that there would be no removal of lands from the Greenbelt, the Government of Ontario is proposing to do just that: carve 7,400 acres out of the Greenbelt for development (ERO #019-6216 and #019-6217).

This needs to be shelved until OPP have investigated the corruption allegations. Our provincial government should be focussing on expanding high density housing within existing urban infrastructure.

The Ford government has removed lands from the Greenbelt to allow for more needed housing to be built. Unfortunately, this opens rural lands to development when these areas should be left for agriculture and resilience from climate change.

Building affordable housing smarter us possible without using the Greenbelt. In Hamilton there are many building sites within the city boundary that can be used. There are already existing services and transit that will allow the city to be run more efficienltly.

I do not support any ammendment to allow any development in the Greenbelt. This jeopardizes the entire Greenbelt, as land speculators will be lining up to lobby the government to develop in additional areas (as they already have).

With housing costs rising, building more homes across the Greenbelt will impose more challengers for home buyers, as well as potential increase in carbon tax. Therefore, the government must provide financial benefits while protecting Ontario’s green lands.
Being a resident in Ontario, opening up the greenbelt for development is a wrong move. What needs to be done, is hold builders accountable . Many builders are never penalized for being late on contracts, or for never finishing projects. Right now there is labour shortage in the trades.

Farmland can not be replaced once developed. Our Greenbelt was protected to ensure food, water and a delicate ecosystem is maintained and available for future generations.

I am deeply concerned by this Government’s proposal of removing several thousand acres from the existing greenbelt designated lands for the purpose of building houses.
