Leave the greenbelt alone! It should be expanded if anything, not reduced. Its an investment in our future and the environment. Short sightedness here will cost us more in the long run. Do not sell our future for a quick buck now, especially while sitting on billions unspent. We won't forget!
I do not support development in the Greenbelt. Land set aside to remain free from development should remain free from development. The government should honor those agreements. Those spaces are priceless for the people of Ontario and should remain wild.

Urban sprawl is not the answer - improving zoning for medium density housing is. Create more multiplexes, low rise apartment and condo buildings, and improve transit accessibility.

I am not in favour of this proposal at all. This has really been an extreme back-tracking from the Ford Government. Before the election last year, he said his government would not touch the greenbelt, and now it seems he has hoped we all forgot about that.

For the last decades, I've seen more and more bedrooms community built, which worsen traffic and contribute to the housing crisis we're facing now.
Now you want to eat into the Green Belt to do the same thing, worsen traffic AND the environment at the same time?
No.
NO!

We cannot abide the encroachment on the green belt, these protected lands are essential to preventing sprawl and furthering car-dependent communities. We will never be rid of the congestion on our highways and in our cities if we keep encouraging this sort of development.

Green spaces close to urban centres play a crucial role for recreational activities of the population in the GTA. Sustainable urban development has to make a cohesive effort in preserving green spaces.

I do not agree with this proposal to develop on the Greenbelt. With the climate crisis at hand, the proposed plan to replace green spaces with houses will accelerate climate change.

Created in 2005, the Ontario Greenbelt – the largest Greenbelt in the world - consists of two million acres of productive farm land and environmentally sensitive areas that have been permanently protected from development.

While I am in agreement that we need to build more homes, and expedite this process, I oppose the government's plan to utilize the green belt for this purpose.

Expanding the urban boundary of Hamilton after the council and citizens voted to maintain its existing boundaries is undemocratic and ignoring the desires of your populace.

I strongly am against the proposed amendment to the Greenbelt plan. The location of the Greenbelt ensures that people in the Greater Golden Horseshoe Region have access to green space. It also prevents flooding, water shortages, and a collapse in biodiversity that would impact all of Ontario.

This is a plan with little to no factual research behind it. It is destructive to the environment and will not result in significant positive impacts to the crisis it seeks to rectify. Municipalities are coming out against the plan because it is not based on evidence, it is based on emotion.

A gross misuse of capital and real estate. The greenbelt does not need to be torn down and developed for more single family dwelling. The urban sprawl needs to be abandoned in favour of denser and more efficient combination residential areas.

NIAGARA WEST - please do not release the greenbelt for development. Please keep your election promise of not touching lands reserved for agricultural and environmentally sensitive lands. This is just too far.

This cannot be allowed to go through. This government said they would not touch the greenbelt before the election. If they are in fact going to destroy parts of the greenbelt, the election should be considered void and we should hold another one.
