I do not wish to see the greenbelt reduced for urban expansion. I absolutely agree that housing is needed, but that should be done by adding density to the city, and funding better public transportation so we're not so reliant on personal vehicles.

It is extremely disappointing to have heard that the provincial government is going back on their word and planning ti open up the green belt to developers.
I personally don’t know of anyone who actually supports this and am interested to understand what the real reasons are.

It's a well known fact that the suburbs aren't able to sustain themselves off the tax revenue they produce. This results in cities building more suburbs to pay for the previous ones essentially like a Ponzi scheme.

Please leave the Greenbelt intact! There is plenty of land to build affordable housing.
People who need housing the most are not going to benefit from land on the Greenbelt. They need housing with access to services in existing dense neighbourhoods. That should be the number one priority.

I am an Ontario citizen in the City of Toronto, and I am a parent. I strongly opposed any changes to the Greenbelt. I feel the Greenbelt leaves an important legacy of conservation for future generations.
I am strongly opposed to this legislation as it will cause us to lose much needed farmland - at a time when it is critical to have food produced in our own country, given the weather and climate related interruptions to food production and delivery in other countries.

We should not be removing parts of the Greenbelt area in order to meet housing demand. The housing crisis cannot be solved by developing on greenfields.

Please do not pave over the Greenbelt! We are already experiencing the effects of climate change, we will be accelerating the process if we pave over our valuable green space.
Instead take land that old factories etc are on and develop that land for housing.
This is an atrocious idea. Destroying the green belt for housing will not help. What would actually help would be to allow and encourage the development of more medium density housing within existing neighbourhood.
Hello,
I support the decision to rezone greenbelt areas as appropriate to build housing, businesses and highways.
To ensure the province’s future growth, prosperity and competitiveness, we must continue to expand infrastructure.

This proposal is an egregious affront to our richness as a province,Simply put, our greenbelt and associated lands are not for sale.We as tax payers have prided ourselves on having a policy in place that protects areas of our province where farmland and conservation areas.

We should be prioritizing medium density housing and intensification. What's the point of destroying farm land and forests for developers short term gains? Single family home sprawl does not create desirable cities and neighborhoods.
If you want to build do it higher up north. Ontario is big, Canada is big. No need to overpopulate areas where the infrastructure barely supports its current population. An more concerning, taking the little bit of green space we have for the wild life and little animals that live there.

Hi there,
I live near a green belt protected area (a park/walkway) that’s wonderful for walking, biking and taking your pets for a walk on it. The one closest to my family has just been renovated/upkeep and looks phenomenal now.

I am distressed to note of the efforts to take away from the green belt zones. While recognizing the need for housing, we should be looking for creative ways to tackle this. This could include creating new population centers that can be created without removing green areas.
Please do not build homes in the Hamilton and Greater Toronto Greenbelt. Increase housing density within current city bounties. Develop efficient communities, improve infrastructure paid by a concentration of high density unit homes that are environmental friend and climate crisis durable.
