This is clear overstepping by the provincial government and not based on leading scientific evidence for the effect of bike lanes on traffic.

This is a pathetic and moronic proposal, completely lacking any sort of evidence that this kind of thing would actually alleviate traffic. THE ONLY WAY TO ALLEVIATE TRAFFIC IS TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF CARS ON THE ROAD. BUILD TRANSIT. GET PEOPLE OUT OF PERSONAL AUTOMOBILES.
I feel that this proposal is a provincial overstep into city decisions.
The city of Toronto has recently just paved brand new, safer, and just more bike lanes on University Ave and to remove them is a waste of public money.

Bike lanes contribute to a Reduction of grid lock as people choose alternate modes of transportation than vehicles. Bike lanes save lives. Cyclists require safe and efficient protected lanes. Bloor bike lanes contribute to increase economic benefit to businesses.

This plan is very misguided. Research has shown over and over again that adding more car lanes will just induce more traffic within 1-2 years, making the problem worse.

The goal of reducing gridlock in Toronto is one we all share. However, international data shows addressing traffic requires solutions that go beyond car-based transportation.

For a government that prides itself on fiscal conservatism, this is just plain stupid. The infrastructure is already in place and we are going to spend money to change that. Beyond that this government was elected to govern Ontario and not meddle in local politics.

As somebody who does not own a car, why is my access to safe and efficient transport routes prioritised less than those who own vehicles - some of which a wholly unreasonable for commuting down town Toronto.

Do not remove bike lanes, they increase safety and reduce traffic since they keep bikes out of the way. Stop wasting taxpayers money and do something productive for once.
I am an Ontario voter that regularly goes through the city. It is quite obvious to me that Bike lanes are not the problem. The reason we have gridlock is because the government can’t get the Gardiner fixed!!

Please do not touch the established bike lanes and continue to add more bike lanes in the municipality to provide Toronto with alternative modes of transportation. Bike lanes save lives and REDUCE gridlock.
The idea that adding lanes of traffic got additional private property storage (also known as parking) will improve the gridlock situation has been well and truly debunked by many studies. The removal of non allowance of bike lanes on the other hand wltget people killed.

This is a horrendous piece of proposed legislation. It is governmental overreach with the province becoming involved in matters not relevant to their governance level.

I rely on bike lines daily as a means of commuting, and do so to reduce car gridlock as well as support the a healthy environment in this city. Removing them would be a massive mistake, and retroactively doing so is simply a waste of money that will surely result in INCREASED congestion.

As a car-dependant Ontarian, even I know that this would be horrible legislation. Protected bike lanes keep ALL of us safer- and the data shows this. We need MORE protected bike lanes throughout the province. Please reconsider.

I am disgusted by this proposal. Biking in Toronto poses many hazards, between the many reckless drivers who hold no regard for cyclists lives, and the poor road quality with literal holes that can knock a cyclist flying off their bike. Bike lanes make it possible to bike safely around the city.
