The reason traffic is so bad is because the government has not invested enough in improving infrastructure. To reduce congestion we should instead invest more in public transit and bike lanes so that both options are more favourable and we have less unnecessary cars on the road. Read more

1. Bike lanes should be dealt with at the city level, they know their cities and traffic flows best. The province should focus their attention on things that affect the entire province, such as health care. Read more

I fully support the existing bike lanes and would like more of them. I do not agree that municipalities need approval from the province for bike lanes. I also do not agree with the removal of environmental assessments to expedite construction of the unnecessary 413 highway and Bradford Bypass

I don't want bill 212 to be passed. I think we need less cars on the road to reduce gridlock. I think we need a balance of available options for people to choose their mode of transportation. Read more

As a commuter downtown, I do not support the removal of bike lanes in spite of my car commute. More should be invested in expanding transit and bike lanes. Driving private cars downtown should be banned.

The proposal to remove bike lanes on existing infrastructure is short sighted and counter productive. With the amount of commutes, casual cyclists and food delivery couriers like uber eats, a rip up off all that infastructer would cause a massive disruption of people's lives and in some cases jobs. It seems like this bill is a thinly veiled disguise to ensure overreaching by the provincial government, to appease a voter base that are being misled to think that the 5-10 minutes longer that it takes them to get across large distances in the city of Toronto is as a result of efforts to improve th Read more

This legislation is going to hurt regular Ontarians that this government does not care about. You are acting like cyclists are a crazy people that do not belong in this province when the truth is we are normal people, trying to get to work, meet our friends, and just get on with life. Read more

This act isn't going to work to reduce congestion, and is going to be further terrible for the environment. Please don't stretch the provincial government's reach further info municipal jurisdiction, and please continue to allow cities and towns to build multimodal transportation networks!

I'm really tired of this government seeing an abundance of open pathways in front of them and choosing to sprint directly into a wall instead. Because surely decisions such as this must be a result of brain damage.

This legislation represents a significant overreach. Municipal leaders are already accountable to their voters, so if bad policy regarding bike lanes is put in place, Ontarians already have a way to rectify it. It will also do nothing to improve congestion, and will likely make it worse. Read more

This is one of the most hairbrained ideas I have ever heard in my life. No one who studies traffic seriously has ever been on the side of removing bike lanes. This serves no purpose but to heal the hurt feelings of car drivers.

Removing bike lanes in urban areas is dangerous and will not improve traffic conditions. Requiring provincial approval for the creation of new bike lanes is an unnecessary obstacle to creating safe sustainable transit infrastructure for Ontarians.
