This plan is misguided at best. It will not reduce congestion. It will cost lives. It is very unclear to me why this is even a conversation at this time. Please do not do this, lives depends on it.
Comical for the environmental registry to be ripping up bike lanes for cars. Plenty of studies that bike lanes reduce congestion, not increase it. Gridlock is made worse when you force people back on cars. Induced demand.

Hi I am writing to provide my feedback as a long time car driver and cyclist. I am speaking from my personal experience having cycle-commuted 3 years (more than 18,000kms) in Toronto and as a driver who drove often between cities in Ontario (20,000kms per year).

A blatant waste of taxpayers money, with the sole intent of reducing their quality of life and pushing through workarounds nobody is asking for. 413 project should not be exempt from environmental protection measures, bike lanes should stay and be expanded upon.

Having these bike lanes installed and then suddenly removed (without even enough time for their benefits and effects to be felt - studies show bike lanes reduce congestion but do take time) is a completely short sighted move, an overstep on behalf of the Ontario government and a total waste of tax p

We must keep existing bike lanes and continue to build more dedicated bike lanes along major transit corridors in Toronto.
Dedicated lanes keeps cyclists same from being hit by other vehicles and keeps them off the sidewalk so they don't run in to pedestrians.

I am not a cyclist but I am absolutely, utterly and 100% against this foolish proposal. If this government truly cared about gridlock, it would invest in public transit, including a highspeed rail network between cities, and it would invest in MORE bike lanes, not fewer.
This framework is incredibly disrespectful to all cyclists in the province. The majority of cycling infrastructure is put in place in response to a cyclist fatality or injury. Infrastructure that protects cyclists is not a waste of space.

This proposal is unacceptable. It ignores countless examples in Canada and worldwide of the positive impact of bike infrastructure on community safety, livability, and reducing congestion of motor vehicles. Removing or delaying improvements to road safety will undoubtedly lead to injury and death.

What a waste of time and tax payer money. Leave decisions within cities to the local government and worry about provincial responsibilities like healthcare and education.

Why is the province playing nanny over duly-elected municipal politicians? If you want to be real conservatives, stay out of municipal business like this. If you want to help ease traffic congestion, find meaningful ways to get people out of cars and into transit and cycling.

Require bike lanes with every road repaving. More people on bikes logically mean less people travelling by car. More safe bike lanes means more people opting to utilize bikes instead of cars.

What a useless waste of time, a joke to every tax payer in the province. How is this an actual issue? How will this improve housing? How will this reduce crime? How will his help with healthcare? How about the provincial governmemnt leaves city stuff to the city council and stays in their lane.
This is absolutely ridiculous legislation to even be considering. I thought that Conservatives were about less government, not meddling in municipal politics. This is a disgrace and a waste of taxpayer money.
I do not drive. I get around with a bicycle and have for decades. I am also frightened to ride my bike on the roads. Although I follow the rules of the road, I've been hit several times. I'd been struck in the back by a side view mirror. I've been backed into at stop signs.

A public servant in queens parks won't know the transit needs of my city. They have a planning department that has accounted for the needs of our city, how it will grow, the wants of the residents, and how the citizens can get around.

Too many cars are the cause of traffic, obviously. Taking out bike lines would only increase traffic, as it would decrease access to a less traffic-inducing method of commuting (biking, of course).
