This is a terrible use of public funds. Firstly, taking away the hard work that just went into implementing all of the bike lanes that made our streets safer over the past few years. Secondly, thousands of people rely on these bike lanes for their safety everyday. Read more

I very much support the initiative to remove the bike lanes from Yonge. They are barely used and clogging traffic. They are making it much more difficult for emergency vehicles to access the residential streets that only have access via Yonge. Read more

I am a student studying Urban Planning at the University of Toronto. This proposal goes against all of the academic literature and research on traffic congestion, and is not grounded in any verifiable evidence, qualitative or quantitative, whatsoever. Read more

This bill directly compromises the safety of cyclists in urban area and is also ingrained in a deep misunderstanding of what actually causes traffic congestion. The real cause of congestion are vehicles on the road and construction, plain and simple. Less cars on the road mean less traffic. Read more

Completely unnecessary and ridiculous. It's a waste of money to remove infrastructure that has already provided improvements to road congestion. It would just set Toronto bas and inevitably the bike lanes would have to be re-installed anyways.

This is an uninformed, pandering proposal which will lead to unsafe conditions for all road users. Bike lanes do NOT cause congestion. Study after study has proven this to be true. Read more

I strongly believe the bikes lanes on main streets like Yonge street, Bloor street and University avenue should be removed. They cause traffic jams that cannot be good for the environment in terms of thousands of cars idling in jammed traffic congestion emitting carbon pollution. Read more

I’m deeply disappointed with the recent proposal to rip out major bike lanes in Toronto. This decision is not only misguided but a complete waste of taxpayer money and a step backwards in fostering a healthier, safer, and more vibrant city. Read more

why are you valuing one method of transportation over others, it isn't your job to dictate what Toronto does with it's own streets, people will be at risk of injury and death because of the removal of safe bike lanes. Read more

Bike lakes are the best way to reduce deaths of cyclists on the road. In no way do I support removing bike lanes. As a cyclist and a driver I feel safest with bike lanes in use.

I think this bill is irresponsible. It’s a waste of time and money. People are already using the bike lanes! Additionally this oversteps the autonomy of municipalities in a revenge filled vendetta against Toronto which doesn’t even support research on traffic. Read more

This proposed legislation is wrong-headed and counter-productive to the goals it claims to have. If passed, it would be a triumph of cynical politics over evidence-based policy. Read more

Please keep the bike lanes especially on Bloor street! This is keeping me and my family safe. Without these bike lanes we can’t bike anywhere due to safety as these are the only key lanes that connect different part of the city! Read more
