Removing bike lanes is not a means of reducing congestion and gridlock. The problem is cars, not bikes. This has been proven repeatedly by studies conducted across this country and around the world. Adding more space for cars does NOT make congestion better; it's makes it WORSE. Read more

The Ontario government's plan to remove the bike lanes on Bloor St., Yonge St., and University Ave. in the City of Toronto and to return them to a lane of traffic, will not reduce gridlock for cars. Doing this will increase the number of cars on the road and worsen public safety. Read more

I oppose this bill. I like the bike lanes on Bloor and University. They keep commuters safe, and studies have shown that they do not add to traffic. Fix Metrolinx instead and stay in your lane.

There is no evidence that supports this decision to remove bike lanes. Vehicle traffic will never support the throughput needs of a city as big as Toronto and congestion will very quickly return to similar levels. Read more

Bikes are part of the solution to gridlock, not the problem. Look to cars for that. This is an incredibly misguided bill that I adamantly oppose, as do many of my fellow Torontonians.

I am a car owner and resident of downtown Toronto. I drive a lot, but I also take the TTC and cycle for commuting a lot as well. As a driver in the city, traffic can be maddening, but it isn't as maddening as encroaching on the right of the city to determine which lanes should have bike lanes. Read more

How does this help? Your going to remove bike lanes and then mix them in normal traffic and that will help the flow how....Has anyone consulted any experts on this topic. Let alone the safety of everyone this does nothing meaningful. Read more

As a Torontonian who sold their car just this year and now bikes, walks or uses TTC to commute, I find this proposal not only irresponsible, but dangerous. Also, a complete overreach of the provincial government's authority. Municipalities know what is best for the people who live in their cities. Read more

This is a disgusting overreach by the premier into what is clearly municipal jurisdiction. Doug Ford should focus less on settling scores from his time as city councilor, and more on running the province he was elected to govern.

DO NOT REMOVE the bike lanes on Bloor, University and Yonge St!! Yes, suburbanites have a longer commute if they come in by car but that is not downtown's fault - that is urban sprawl. Read more
