This is a municipal government item which Doug Ford should not be involved in making changes on. It directly contradicts his own small government platform. Also, we should be increasing bike infrastructure to meet climate goals not reducing it.

We need to provide alternate modes of commuting other than cars to avoid traffic. Removing bike lanes will make it so that people need to rely on cars more, increasing traffic and congesting the traffic lane that you have now freed up after spending millions of taxpayer dollars. Read more

This bill is absurd. Municipalities should have the ability to make their own transportation decisions. In addition, there is significant evidence indicating that bicycle lanes reduce congestion in the long term. Reconsideration is needed.

This whole proposal is an embarrassment. Building more capacity for cars just means more cars and more congestion. It's been proven that the best way to relive these things are offering alternate options, like bikes and transit.

Reducing the number of bike lanes and making it more difficult to add new bike lanes will only cause further car traffic on roads. Cycling offers people the choice of not driving to work or the store or wherever else they go. Read more

Please for the love of god, do not get rid of any bike lanes. It’s only going to make traffic worse because now all those cyclists are going to be driving. This removes essential transportation infrastructure. We need to guarantee a standard of safety for vulnerable road users. Having separated cycling lanes is helpful as a driver so I do not have to constantly worry about sharing a lane with cyclists. Read more

I am having trouble understanding the logic. If I ride my bike to and from work on the Bloor and Yonge bike lanes and if you rip the bike lanes out, I am going to need to buy a car. This will lead to MORE gridlock, not less. Perhaps you should rip out the parking spaces so there is more roads!
