I am an Ontario voter and taxpayer who lives and works right along one of the bike lanes that will be impacted by this costly and unnecessary initiative from the Premier. Read more

I use the university and Bloor bike lanes, as well as the university bike lane daily- as do our kids for school and university. Please don’t remove these. Create better public transit options so people can choose transit over driving - I’d happily do this !

I do not support Bill 212 for several reasons. Firstly, I was shocked to learn that municipal streets are considered highways and are under provincial legislation. Read more

Bicycle lanes *are* lanes of traffic that safely convey commuters whose vehicles are bicycles. Adding a bicycle lane is not removing a lane of traffic. It is allocating a small amount of space to a different kind of vehicle.

I am deeply concerned about Ontario's new proposal that would mandate provincial approval for new bicycle lanes if they require the removal of existing vehicle lanes and, more troublingly, the potential removal of existing bike lanes on major Toronto roads like Bloor Street, Yonge Street, and Univer Read more

I have lived in Mississauga for 34 years. I spent much of my working life practising law downtown. I had the good fortune to live near the waterfront trail. Read more

I wish to hereby voice my strong opposition to Bill 212. I believe the arguments for the personal, community, societal and environmental benefits of cycling and safe infrastructure have been well covered made many times over. Read more

Adding more lanes has never reduced the amount of traffic on Toronto roads. Every highway I’ve ever driven on has had 2+ hour delays and there are many times where I can see people walking making it to their destination sooner. Toronto needs more bike lanes not fewer. Read more

Removing bike lanes will not provide relief from congestion. There are numerous studies from cities around the world proving this. By removing bike lanes, you are putting people's safety at risk. Read more

Removing bike lanes will cause more money and congestion, instead of alleviating any of the current problems. Most importantly, it will cause the legal 1-meter distance between bikers and riders to disappear, as it wont be enforceable.

Please do not make the city infrastructure worse than it already is! Cycling saves road space and congestion with fewer cars! This is an insane proposition and people who actually live downtown and have to deal with the difficult and poorly planned city daily should be listened to!

Bikes lanes are a municipal concern that should be decided by the city, not an over-reaching provincial government. Focus on providing quality healthcare and being good stewards of the environment, and let Toronto control its own streets.

The recently proposed Bill 212 leaves me terrified as a commuting cyclist and as the parent of a teenager who cycles each day to school. Over the past 15 years that I have lived in Toronto, I have been happy to see an increase in bike lanes. Read more

This proposal is a gross overstep of jurisdiction. The province has no place in directing the affairs of municipalities and this is why we have such structure to our levels of government. Read more

As a Torontonian and an Ontarian, I'm very disheartened by this bill. Although I have a drivers license, I prefer cycling to driving. In recent years, the City of Toronto has made great progress in making cycling a safer experience, and thus more accessible and appealing to the public. Read more
